About us

Graham and Heather have lived at Higher Farm, in the beautiful rural hamlet of Barton since their marriage in October 1978. The farmhouse was built in the late 1700’s and Graham and Heather are the third generation of the family to live there. As well as running a suckler herd on the farm, they started their first business, A&A Farm Supplies, operating from the building in which the guest rooms are now established, in May 1992, serving the local agricultural industry. Their two sons Philip and Martin joined the business as soon as they could, and as the family has grown decided to diversify in the same way many other farming businesses have done. Some may say a logical progression – ‘A&A’ to ‘B&B’!

The refurbishing of the beautiful building has been done with care and many features have been kept or restored, brick archways, beams, bobholes and stable wall dividers to name but a few.

Many of the properties in Barton, including Higher Farm were part of the original Carden Park Estate nearby, but were sold off over the years. The local Bar & Restaurant, The Cock O Barton, dating from the 16th Century, was a coaching Inn and was also the scene of many a ‘cock fight’ in the times when activities like that were allowed!
